Classes will be held at Maize & Barley in Edmonds starting September 25-Nov 27 from 6:30-8:30. Class sizes are limited to approximately 25 ppl. It is a 9-10 week course. Each class will have a 45 min educational presentation. Class topics will include: Water, Malt, Wort Production, Hops, Yeast, Flavors: On and Off I & II, Judging: Perceiving & Describing. The second section of class will cover a region of styles for sampling and judging. This class will certainly help anyone interested in pursuing their Cicerone Certifications. It is also designed to help you pass the BJCP online exam and the tasting exam.
Testing process for BCJP is first passing the online exam. That qualifies you for the tasting exam. Once you take that, your score sets the bar: >=70 and you are Recognized until you get enough judging points to become Certified. If you have 80 or above you are qualified to take the written exam (which is HARD). Once you have taken that, if your average score from written and tasting is 80 or over you get to National, 90 or over and you get to Master (with sufficient points under your belt).
